Applying to UBC VSP
Find out how to apply for the Vancouver Summer Program and what you can expect from the application process.
Getting started
Starting with the Vancouver Summer Program is easy. Here is a step-by-step guide to the process—from your application to your arrival:
Verification and Pay Application Fee
After submitting your application, you will receive an email with the link to submit your application fee ($85 CAD). Your application fee will be applied to the program fee and is non-refundable.
We’ll contact the administrator you listed on your application to verify your information. If we don’t hear back, we won’t be able to complete your application.
Letter of Acceptance
If we accept your application, we’ll send you a Letter of Acceptance by email. Carefully review the information in the letter and inform us straight away at vsp.ubc@ubc.ca if anything is incorrect.
Travel Documents
Obtain valid documentation for travel to Canada. Due to COVID-19, the requirements for this are frequently being updated. Once you have received your Letter of Acceptance, visit Immigration & Citizenship Canada for the latest travel requirements. Remember to give yourself adequate time for this step.
Payment
As soon as you receive your Letter of Acceptance, make your payment through our Western Union payment page. The full fee is required up front and there is no deposit fee. Please keep a note of your reference ID in case you need it later. Your payment will take 15 business days (M-F) to be processed.
Flight, Accommodation and Roommate (FAR) form
We will email you an electronic Flight, Accommodation, and Roommate form along with the e-receipt for your payment. Submit your completed form with all information on flights and rooming preferences filled in. You must have obtained your valid travel documents to submit your form.
Health Insurance
We provide health insurance coverage to all participants in the Vancouver Summer Program. Be sure to print or keep a copy of your iMED card on you phone in preparation for your visit.
Program Consent Waivers
Next, complete and submit your Vancouver Summer Program Consent Package. All students below 19 years of age are required to have a parent or guardian complete the package.
Orientation
We will send you information on enrolling and completing the online orientation course before you begin your program. When you arrive, you’ll have a UBC campus orientation, too.
