Due to the continued impact of the pandemic and province-wide restrictions by the order and the direction of the provincial health officer, UBC has made the difficult decision to cancel the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) for 2021.

Please visit our VSP COVID-19 information page to stay up-to-date on the program’s response.

VSP students are assigned to residences on UBC campus for the duration of the VSP program.

Typically, students participating in the June program will be assigned in six bedroom apartment suites at Walter Gage Residence. If maximum occupancy is reached in apartment style accommodation, students may be placed in dormitory style accommodation on campus.

The residences are secure, non-smoking, and have a 24-hour reception desk. There will also be a minimum of one Residence Mentor assigned to each residence building. Residence Mentors are UBC student leaders who ensure residences are safe and quiet, and can provide extra support to students. From all residences, students will be within walking distance of classes, libraries, sport facilities and transportation. Each student will be assigned a single, private bedroom which can be locked by a card key or hard key.

Other amenities at Walter Gage Residence include:

  • A desk and chair
  • Bed
  • Free Wi-Fi in lobby and guest rooms
  • Pay laundry on site
  • Shared apartments (typically 6 bedrooms)
  • In-suite bathroom
  • Shared living space with TV
  • Equipped kitchen
